Forgiveness is not something we do for other people. We do it for ourselves. Its a gift that you gift to yourself. It was to set the prisoner free and realize that prisoner was you. It does not change the past but it does enlarge the future.
Remember to always pray for forgiveness only to Allah swt. Only Allah can give forgiveness and change our heart to get well and move on.
